Geneva [Switzerland], May 18 (ANI): A total of 62 countries, including India, have supported joint efforts from Australia and the European Union and require an independent study of QUIEN‘s answer to COVID-19 pandemicaccording to a draft resolution proposed for the 73rd World Health Meeting (WHA) beginning today.
The draft calls for an “impartial, independent and comprehensive” probe into it coronavirus crisis. Furthermore, a study of the actions of World Health Organization (WHO) and “their schedules for the COVID-19 pandemic.”
“Initiate as soon as possible and in consultation with Member States a step-by-step process of impartial, independent and comprehensive evaluation, including the use of existing mechanisms, where appropriate, to review the experience and experience of WHO coordinated international health response to COVID-19,” reads the draft report.
European nations and Australia have gathered support for an “impartial, independent and comprehensive evaluation” of the “WHO Coordinated International Health Response to COVID-19”.
Last month, Australia was the first country to request an independent study into how coronavirus started.
Australian Foreign Minister Marise Payne said allowing WHO to investigate the outbreak “strikes me as a bit of a sniper and gamekeeper,” ABC reported.
“This is about working together to equip the international community to better prevent or counter the next pandemic and keep our citizens safe,” Payne was quoted as saying by ABC.
However, the movement has not found mention of China or the city of Wuhan, where the outbreak is believed to have begun.
Other major countries named in the EU-supported draft include Japan, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, South Korea, Brazil and Canada. (ANI)
