As a personal trainer, I have found that many of my clients are lost when it comes to knowing healthy snacks for weight loss. This leads them to skip meals or find other alternative snacks that are not healthy. One of the big reasons why I don’t want my fitness clients to skip meals or snacks is because it will cause their blood sugar levels to dip and put them in excellent condition to binge on their diet. If you really want to stick to your diet, I would recommend snacking because it will help control your hunger and keep your food intake in manageable parts.
Most people feel guilty about snacking, but the truth is that there really is nothing wrong with it, and there are several benefits that help keep your mind and body healthy as well as your metabolism going strong. I recommend giving my clients the opportunity to have 2 to 3 different snacks during the day, preferably between meals to keep their blood sugar levels stable. Of course, the best snacks are going to be dense nutrients and healthy foods that are not processed, and these will give your body a lot of energy so that they can provide an optimal level throughout the day. There are so many different snacks on the market today that it will be important to find the ones that are the most healthy for you and do not make you fat.
When most people are looking for snacks, they usually take a bag of potato chips, cheetos, cookies, candy bars or biscuits. All of these unhealthy snacks will be empty calories that will raise your blood sugar levels and make you gain weight. The reason these bad snacks make you gain weight in the first place is because it will increase your insulin levels, which will tell your body to store these carbohydrates as fat. So the secret to snacking for weight loss is finding dense foods that will not increase your insulin levels. Some of my favorite choices for healthy snacks include plain Greek yogurt, trail mix, protein powder, almond butter celery, cottage cheese and turkey jerky.
Although most people think snacking is actually bad for you because they wrongly assume that you need to starve yourself to lose weight. But in fact, snacking is a very important part of the fat burning process and it is important if you ever intend to lose weight. It’s a great way to have manageable size portions in your diet that will keep your blood sugar levels stable and prevent your body from increasing your hunger levels to the point that you end up bonding. Adhering to your diet is hard enough, and if you do not end up eating all day, you will eventually give in and will eat everything in sight. If you ask someone who is in pretty good shape, you know they understand that eating healthy snacks for weight loss will be the key to staying fit and strong.
