Beverages are just as important as food when it comes to parties. Your guests will be looking for something, both refreshing and delicious, even when they finish eating. But when planning what kind of drinks to serve, remember that you have to cater for all kinds of guests, including children.

Here are 3 great non-alcoholic cooler recipes that are great for both indoor and outdoor parties:

Basil and cantaloupe slush

What you need:

  • 1 middle edge cantaloupe, peeled, seeded and cut into 2-inch pieces

  • 2 large twigs of fresh basil

  • 1/4 cup of water

  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • Soda

Mix the water, grain sugar and salt together in a small saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil, then lower the heat. Simmer (without stirring) for 3 to 4 minutes, or until the sugar has dissolved. Remove it from the heat, then add the basil twigs before letting it cool completely. When the mixture is ready, pour the mixture into a blender. Add cantaloupe and mix until smooth. Strain in square pan, cover and refrigerate until frozen, approx. 6 to 8 hours. When ready, scrape large flakes of the frozen mixture with a fork. Place flakes in glasses, sprinkle with soda and then serve.

  • 1/2 cup chilled grape juice

  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice

  • 1 teaspoon agave

Put pineapple in a bowl. Use the back of a wooden spatula to mix the fruit until broken down into smaller pieces and work for approx. 2 to 3 minutes. Add the mint leaves to the bowl and then continue mixing until the leaves are labeled. Divide the mixture between serving glasses. Add a few ice cubes, then pour grape and lime juice, sparkling water and agave. Mix gently and then serve with glue slices.
