Ayurvedic drug ‘Fifatrol’ finds mention in compendium to tackle coronavirus, Health News, ET HealthWorld


New Delhi: Fifatrol as an immune-boosting Ayurvedic drug has found a mention among about 200 technologies and research activities evaluated by experts in a recently released compendium to combat coronavirus. Prepared by the State Board National Research Development Corporation, ‘The Compendium of Indian Technologies to Combat COVID-19 (Tracking, Testing and Treatment)’ presents the status of 200 initially developed technologies and ongoing research activities and efforts taken by the government to combat the deadly virus infection.

Health experts have suggested that boosting the body’s immune system can help minimize the effects and increase recovery from the disease, the compendium says.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi also recently highlighted the benefits of Ayurveda and encouraged people to look at AYUSH Ministry‘s protocol to stay fit and say that good health is the crime of happiness.

“Fifatrol acts as a natural antibiotic and fights infection, influenza and ailments,” it states.

The compendium elaborated on the main characteristics of the drug that Fifatrol is a natural formulation that provides quick relief of nasal congestion, sore throat, body pain and headache.

“It is enriched with scientifically validated botanical extracts and micro-nutrients. It is a rational combination of vital phytoconstituents, immune modulators and antioxidants that justify its beneficial effect in treating viral upper respiratory tract infections,” it said.

Fifatrol, developed by AIMIL Pharma, is a formulation of well-known immune-boosting herbs such as’ Guduchi ‘,’ Sanjeevini Ghanvati ‘,’ Daruharidra ‘,’ Apamarga ‘,’ Chirayata ‘,’ Karanja ‘,’ Kutaki ‘, Tulsi,’ Godanti ‘(Bhasam),’ Mrtyunjaya Rasa ‘,’ Tribhuvana Kriti Rasa ‘and’ Sanjivani Vati ‘.

The drug offers improved immune system in top notch form to fight viral, bacterial and other infections; normalizes elevated body temperature, fixes improvement and eases the associated symptoms such as flu, colds and congestion, the compendium says.

The prime minister had called on AYUSH practitioners to plunge in to tackle the coronavirus pandemic. He has also urged citizens to fall back on traditional home remedies to increase their immunity amid the outbreak.
