Rice is a great alternative to mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables that are paired with your meat. What is great about it is that it is very versatile – you can have it as plain or as flavorful as you like. Add meat, veggies, fruit or some spice and it can even be a meal on your own!

Delicious Indian style lemon rice

What you need:

  • 2 cups of cooked basmati rice

  • 2 green chilies, chopped

  • 4 small dried red chillies

  • 4 tablespoons lemon juice

  • 4 tablespoons peanuts

  • 2 tablespoons oil

  • 1 tablespoon cashew nuts

  • 1 tablespoon curry leaves

  • 1 teaspoon split Bengal gram

  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds

  • 1 teaspoon ginger, finely chopped

  • 1 teaspoon white lentils

  • 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder

  • Salt to taste

In a large saucepan, heat the oil and stir the division of Bengal grams, mustard seeds and white lentils, followed by peanuts and cashews. Stir in green and red chili and curry leaves, then add cooked rice, lemon juice, ginger, turmeric powder and salt. Stir until the ingredients are well combined and rice is heated.

Sponge rice with a kick

What you need:

  • 4 cups of cooked white rice

  • 1/4 kilo of mushroom buds

  • 1 jalapeno, sliced

  • 1 shallot, sliced

  • 1/4 cup of marsala wine

  • 2 tablespoons butter

  • 1 tbsp. I’m sauce

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper

Melt the butter in a saucepan on medium-high heat and cook mushrooms for 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Stir in the jalapeno and shall season the shallots with salt and pepper. Pour marsalavin over the mixture and reduce the heat. Finally stir the soy oven before adding the cooked white rice. Stir until all ingredients are well combined. Serve immediately.

Cheesy French onion rice

What you need:

  • 1 can of French onion soup (like Campbells)

  • 1 cup of basmati rice

  • 1 cup of water

  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese

Bring the French onion soup and the water to a boil over high heat in a saucepan. Reduce heat, add basmati rice and simmer. Stir in the rice until it absorbs the soup and water mixture. Remove it from the heat and transfer the rice to a bowl. Add the parmesan cheese and stir until well combined with the rice. Serve immediately.
